Crosby G-416/S-416 Open Spelter Sockets deliver 100% termination efficiency and a versatile open design for secure high-strength lifting.
Crosby Open Spelter Sockets are robust wire rope terminations designed for high-strength applications where an open termination point is required for connection to other fittings. Like the closed variant, these socket baskets are engineered to accommodate specific wire rope constructions, ensuring a reliable bond when speltered properly.
Constructed from forged steel for smaller sizes (through 38mm) and cast alloy steel for larger sizes (40mm through 102 mm), these sockets offer superior structural integrity. The design features an open body with a pin for versatile connection options.
Standards Complied:
Federal Specification RR-S-550F (Type A performance requirements).
Available in standard and heavy-lift configurations:
Rope Diameter Range: 5/16" (8 mm) to 4" (102 mm).
Ultimate Load: Ratings from 12 tonnes up to 875 tonnes.
Wire Rope Compatibility: Designed for use with 6 x 7, 6 x 19, or 6 x 37 IPS or XIP (EIP), XXIP (EEIP), RRL, FC, or IWRC wire ropes.
Rated for 100% efficiency based on the catalog strength of the wire rope.
Forged steel is used for sockets up to 38mm, while larger sockets (40mm+) use robust cast alloy steel.
All cast steel sockets (40mm and larger) undergo magnetic particle inspection and ultrasonic inspection to ensure quality.
Proof testing is available on special order for critical applications.
Available with bolt nut and cotter (G-416B) configuration.
Open Grooved Sockets meet the performance requirements of Federal Specification RR-S-550F, Type A.
